Lars Ericson Wolke
Lars
Ericson Wolke (formerly Lars Ericson) is associate professor
in military history at Åbo Akademi University in Finland where
he also does some lecturing. His main employer is the National Defence
College in Stockholm where he's professor in Military history. Apart
from this he has a number of commissions; he is the president of
the Swedish Commission on Military History and a fellow of The Royal
Swedish Academy of War Science and also a member of the committees
in The Swedish Society for Personal History, The Carolinian Society
and The International Commission of Military History.
Since
the 1980's Lars
has been producing books and articles on history both in his spare
time and at work. His first entirely own book was his thesis, Burghers
and bureaucrats, which was published in 1988. Then Swedish
soldiers was published in 1995 by Historiska Media - a collaboration
that has continued ever since. He is also in much demand as a lecturer
in different contexts. He spends his remaining time with his family,
often travelling.
Previously Lars
has been Senior Archivist and head of the department of researchers'
services at The National War Archives in Stockholm. He's also earlier
worked at the National Army Museum in Stockholm.

I am by two extremes of the Pacific war at Pearl Harbor,
Hawaii: in the close background, to be seen dimly, the
rust brown hull from the naval war cemetery USS Arizona,
sunk in the Japanese attack 7 December 1941. Further back,
the battledship USS Missouri, where the Japanese surrender
was signed in the Bay of Tokyo 2 September 1945.
