The Bloodbath of Stockholm

On friday 9 November 1520 Stockholm was a city in chock. On the day before, the Danish king Kristian II had executed about one hundred of his political enemies in Stockholm, and their bodies were now being transported away to be burned on big fires. The bloodbath of Stockholm became the fatal wound for the Nordic union; three years later Gustavus Vasa was elected Swedish king.
